35 Years of NOFFZ – Global Success with Test and Automation Systems

Beginnings and Expansion (1989-2008)

NOFFZ Technologies GmbH was founded in 1989, beginning its success story with custom test solutions for customers in the consumer and automotive industries. At the same time, the company started developing additional solutions for the telecommunications industry, particularly for Bluetooth and wireless technologies. This enabled NOFFZ to establish a reputation among renowned smartphone manufacturers and to deliver products and system solutions worldwide.

Starting in 2000, NOFFZ grew significantly through strategic partnerships, allowing it to expand its portfolio to include radio and navigation testers, among others.

Technological Advances and New Markets (2009-2015)

In addition to the Universal Tester Platform, UTP (initially known as the Telecom Audio Video Telematics (TAVT) test system), significant milestones in the company’s history were marked by the introduction of the PXI chassis sUTP 4510 in 2009. This proprietary development allowed the integration of custom test applications in a 6-slot chassis. In the same year, NOFFZ launched the first UTP tester, UTP 9010, as a functional and board-level tester, which quickly became established in the industrial electronics and mechanical engineering sectors. By 2012, the company had reached a three-digit volume of UTP testers, underscoring the growing demand for reliable and efficient test solutions.

NOFFZ continued its innovation path with the development of integrated workstations and manufacturing cells. These systems enabled the testing of seat control units and seat heaters using integrated cameras and LED technologies. Additionally, UTP 9065 burn-in screening systems were developed to stress, break in, and test units under load conditions.

Another highlight was the introduction of the run-in screening system in 2013. These systems allowed environmental testing at various temperatures ranging from minus 45 to plus 150 degrees Celsius, ensuring that products functioned reliably under extreme conditions. In recent years, NOFFZ has established itself in the validation and production of environmental tests, emphasizing the importance of these tests for product development and safety.

Global Success and Continuous Innovation (2015-present)

In 2016, NOFFZ established further research and development groups at other locations and launched new products on the market between 2015 and 2017, including the ITD (for A²B® transceivers) and GNSS. These new developments demonstrated the company’s ability to adapt to ever-changing market requirements and integrate new technologies.

Another milestone in the history of NOFFZ is the continuous expansion of RF test solutions. With the increasing demand for RF applications, NOFFZ developed specialized products such as the Universal Wireless Tester, UTP 507x RF chambers/drawer adapters, and the UTP 6010. These systems have been deployed internationally in high triple-digit quantities, with some customers even acquiring 100 of these testers for various projects. NOFFZ’s RF testers are distinguished by their exceptionally long service life and reliability – many of these devices have been in operation for over ten years.

An important advantage of these durable testers is the possibility of retrofitting/refurbishing. NOFFZ offers comprehensive updates and renewals to bring the testers up to the latest technology standards and adapt them for new programs and applications. Through these retrofits, customers can significantly save costs by continuing to use their existing systems efficiently instead of investing in new equipment. This strategy reinforces NOFFZ’s commitment to sustainability and maximizing customer value through long-term investments in high-quality and future-proof test solutions.

Future Orientation and Continuous Growth

NOFFZ remains true to its innovative line and continuously develops new products and system solutions. The UTP platform is constantly being expanded, offering single, dual, up to ten-fold testers that meet the requirements of modern production. These multi-test systems can also be automated using the NOFFZ Automation Modules with robots.

The UTP Suite software, which has grown continuously since 2009, has successfully established itself internationally and offers flexible deployment options for a wide range of test applications in validation and production test environments. The radar testing area, which was launched ten years ago, has made NOFFZ one of the global market leaders. Extensive investments in the further development of these technologies make it possible to test different sensors at customers worldwide.

Developments in RF technology, especially the results from the research center in Budapest, have successfully positioned NOFFZ in the market. With the introduction of cost-effective solutions like the ITN 1000—a simple, low-cost RF pass/fail tester—and complex CATR radar test solutions and display test products, NOFFZ has further strengthened its market position.
